Highspeed Shipbuilding & Engineering Co. Ltd.

Mr. K M M Rahman worked hard since 1973 and developed remarkable relationship and finally convinced the Japanese multinationals to invest in Bangladesh in collaboration with IFC in setting up the 1st and the largest private joint venture in the field of shipbuilding & heavy engineering. Then joint venture industry was commissioned in 1981 and since then we completed numerous large infrastructure projects. some of these are:

  • Kaptai Hydro-Electric Power Plant expansion [Hitachi Zosen Corporation, Japan]
  • Chittagong Urea Fertilizer Factory [Kurita Water Industries Ltd., Japan]
  • Multipurpose Berths at Chittagong Port [Interboven BV, Holland]
  • Revamping of Eastern Refinery at Chittagong [C.E. Lumus of UK]
  • Eight nos. of Food Grain carriers for FAO (UNDP) [Swiss Goverment Food Security Program]
  • Jamuna Fertilizer Factory [Mitsubishi Corporation, Japan]
  • Railway Workshop at Parbatipur [Daewoo Corporation, South Korea]
  • Karnaphuli Fertilizer Factory [Mitsui Construction Co. Ltd., Japan]
  • 60 MW Barge Mounted Power Plant at Mymensingh [Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co. Ltd., Japan]

In all these projects, Highspeed worked closely as the local partner both at the shipyard premises and the project site, thus creating an excellent performance record. In the field of shipbuilding, the joint venture company built about 65 NK, LLOYDS & ABS class ships such as Oil Tankers, Dry Cargo ships, Deep Sea fishing trawlers, fast patrol boats, tugs, large size barges upto 5000 DWT. We have our docking and repair facilities for all kind of ships in our own shipyard at Fatullah.

HIGHSPEED TEXTILE MILLS LTD (HTML)

Highspeed Group has taken a corporate decision to expand in activities and utilize its financial & management capabilities to enter into the textile sector, which is fast expanding in Bangladesh.

For its initial launching project HTML, has signed an agreement with one of the largest Canadian Spinning Mills for relocation of its spinning plant Bangladesh.

This company represents the major shipping lines of the world including Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL). The company also represent other major lines like Senator of Germany. It carries a fair amount of containerized cargo to all ports around the world.

Bay Trawling Limited

Bay Trawling owns and operates a fleet of deep sea fishing trawlers specially designed for catching shrimps in the Bay of Bengal. The trawlers have all the latest technical facilities like plate freezing, on board processing and packing etc. The shrimps are processed and packed on board as per different marketing configuration required by different markets.

The company has entered into marketing, operational and technical services agreement with Japanese partner 'Central Fisheries Company Ltd.' of Japan for optimum catch of shrimps and fish in the Bay of Bengal and exporting the same to Japan. This agreement will prove very useful for efficient operation of the project.
